“Kat’s Notebook for Reading,” was created as an attempt to combat lowering literacy rates in America. The goal is to pique the interest of internet users by disguising academia into digital media. Thus, hopefully appealing to shorter attention spans.
PROBLEM
The growing demand for credible education online underscores a critical issue: the widespread availability of misinformation in the field. Individuals pursuing knowledge often encounter numerous unreliable sources, and reliable sources are boring to the general population. to make complex book information more accessible to the general public. Given that 54% of US adults read below a 6th-grade level, as noted by The National Literacy Institute, addressing this gap in understanding is essential.

AN INSIGHT ON ART INSPIRATION:
Artists whose aesthetics have influenced the visuals for this project are Jack Stauber, @monkyboypr, @Jota Studios and @harkeofficial.

Both Jota Studios and @harkeofficial approach user experience in the first person. Jota Studios tends to put interactive inanimate objects in front of the viewer and places the viewer in a 3D scene while @harkeofficial places a character subject in front/middle of the composition. Jota Studios uses interactive environments while @harkeofficial tends to have one-on-one conversational style exposition for the narrative. In this project I used both.
Both of these art styles have a pixelated finish, and saturated, low-luminance colors. Jack Stauber and @monkyboypr have visualized the multi-media cut-and-paste layers on the retro-style film look that I’m aiming for.
Both of these digital artists use handmade assets, live-action film, and animation in their projects.
ITERATIONS:
Originally was meant to be a psychology education website but evolved into a pedagogic one.
